Oldie But Goodie

After a careful analysis of Heart's gem "All I Want to do is Make Love to You" (and I've included some comments in brackets, feel free to add your own) I still don't know the answer to the most perplexing question of the 80's. Is the one thing the new guy can't give her the "bringing out the woman in her", or "walking in a garden and planting a seed"?
Please advise.

It was a rainy night
When he came into sight
Standing by the road
With no umbrella
No coat (asking for money for gin)
So I pulled up along side
And I offered him a ride (I bet you did!)
He accepted with a smile (how many teeth?)
So we drove for a while
I didn't ask him his name (later I found out from Legends of the Fall credits)
This lonely boy
In the rain
Fate tell me it's right, is this love at first sight (it doesn’t take much for this chick)
Please don't make it wrong
Just stay for the night

All I wanna do is make love to you
Say you will
You want me too
All I wanna do is make love to you
I got lovin' arms, to hold on to

So we found this hotel
It was a place, I knew well (How do u know this hotel so well? Cumdumpster!)
We made magic that night
Oh he did everything right
He brought the woman out of me
So many times
Easily
And in the morning when he woke
All I left him was a note
I told him I am the flower
You are the seed (did she feel conception or something?)
We walked in the garden (dirty hotel sex)
We planed a tree (must have)
Don't try to find me (ya, guys always try to hunt down one night stands – so they can propose and all that shit)
Please don't you dare (but please pay for the room service/porn bill)
Just live in my memory
You'll always be there (with …….ugh, I don’t know their names!)

All I wanna do is make love to you
One night of love
Was all we knew
All I wanna do is make love to you
I got lovin' arms, to hold on to - oh
Oooh we made love
Love like strangers (how do STRANGERS, make LOVE? And don’t say doggy style)
All night long
We made love

Then it happened one day
We came round the same way
You can imagine his surprise
When he saw his own eyes (omg, who saw this coming??!)
I said please please understand
I'm in love with another man (this one took 2 days)
And what he couldn't give me, oh
Was the one little thing that you can

All I wanna do is make love to you
One night of love
Was all we knew
All I want to do is make love to you
C'mon say you will
You want me too
All I wanna do is make love to you
One night of love
Was all we knew
All I wanna do is make love to you
Say you will baby
Want me too all night long
All night long
All night long
All night long
All I wanna do, all I wanna do, all I wanna do, all I wanna do
All I wanna do is make love to you
One night of love
Was all we knew - yeah
He brought the woman out of me
So many times
Easily
Oooh we made love
Love like strangers (LOL)

I'm a bad man; "cumdumpster" made me giggle like a schoolgirl.

Having read through the lyrics, it's hard to help but think that she's trolling the interstate for drifters to seduce and leave with a hotel room bill. Or innocent young farm boys, or something. I guess the sassy comments help steer us in this direction, but still...

I'm confused about the moral of the story, though. Was she was out to steal the drifter's precious seed? Maybe I'm horribly misinterpreting - I've never been good at this, but seems to me like that last verse is about the highway drifter seeing his kid with her? Or something like that? Maybe I'm just totally on crack but that's the only thing I can come up with based on "You can imagine his surprise When he saw his own eyes." That or he's never seen a mirror before.

But then the rest of the song seems to be about her having a great fucking time (literally) with the drifter, suggesting that the spark from her other relationship is gone and she's after some short-term passion. But then where the hell's the regret coming from? And being still in love with that other man? I'm confused. Does she use the steady man for money while cruising the highway for love and bastard children? But the tune sounds so hopeful and romantic - it can't really be that, can it?

I think it's no mystery that when they run into each other, they're seed is in the form of a child. The mystery is, she's obviously with some one now. Is the thing that person can't give her the child? or tirple orgasm? And since she says "one single thing that you can" as in present tense...then is she asking for it again? In other words, does her current relationship suffer from infertility? or PE?

I think we can make a good stab at deducing that she's after the seed - if she was just out for a good time, well, the eighties might not have been what you'd call a good decade, but even they had contraception. Also, why mention that the guy was surprised to see his kid if the kid wasn't the whole point? Furthermore, if hubby or whoever was impotent to start with, he's not gonna get more potent with time, so the seed factor would still be there.

But the whole thing has such a 'romantic, passionate lovemaking' theme that maybe she's having her cake and eating it too. But then why say you still love the other guy? Aaaahhhhh. Can you love someone and cheat on them furiously with people you meet at the side of the highway?
