One of the Billion Reviews of the SATC Movie!!!!

Ok, so yes, I'm going to be so cliche - as I was Friday night by dressing up and going to the opening night of the fully sold out Sex and the City Movie - by blogging about it!

Ok, good movie. Completely gratuitous, but well written and fun to watch. I have mixed feelings about (spoiler alert) Senior Grande and Carrie ending up getting married, but meh, fairy tail endings are good too. Still love Steve, and Charlotte and her family are just too cute. Overall, if you liked the series, you'll like the movie.

Furthermore, this was total, utter girl porn - as in fashion porn, shoe porn, wedding porn, friendship porn, cocktail porn, male frontal nudity (nuf said), threesome (nuf said), drama porn, etc........

What boggled me though - like I told Gus before I took off with my gorgeous dolled-up SINGLE girlfriends - is where were all the guys cashing in on this?

Being that I hang out a lot with Gus's friends, I know way too many nice, cute single guys and no single girls. In general, I know more single guys than girls. I read in Cosmo that for every 5 single guys between the ages of I think 21 and 31 there are only 4 single girls - presumably because girls in their twenties date and marry slightly older guys. This explains some of it, and means that unless a guy is willing to date the under 21 crowd which I just find creepy for the most part, one out of every 5 guys is SOL.

Tangent! Anyway....

So where are all these guys on a night where swarms of dressed up girls, many single girls, romantics hoping to meet someone and open to the idea after a couple of cosmos or other fancy cocktails are all over the city with their pretty toenails hanging out of their flip flops and cute shoes? Come on! I didn't see guys anywhere.....

The guys were all hiding, obviously, waiting for the storm to blow over. It's not about not recognizing the opportunity or something, but unless we've been watching the show pretty religiously, or at least reading the Cole's Notes, there isn't an in, a way to fit into the situation, start a conversation, etc. "Wasn't Carrie's wedding dress just da bomb? And, say, can I have your number?" Or, you know, something.

How many single gals you suppose were out trying to score a date after a screening of Rambo IV? ;)

Well said Premek. I definitely try to be in the same place as single girls sometimes, but I wouldn't touch the SATC premiere.

Well, you didn't have to be going to the movie, just out at the bars. Every girl I know went somewhere for cocktails before the show - and it's not like that's ALL we can talk about.

And as for your Rambo referece, please refer to paragraph aboutu the single guys and not so many single girlfriends.

yeah, being a single guy in his mid twentys sucks!!! I know a dozen beautiful, smart, funny women, and eleven of 'em are in long term relationships!!!!

Guess part of the problem is I hate the bar/club scenes...

And this makes me wonder (and taking advantage of the blog poster) where does one meet single women other than bars/clubs/sex in the city showings?
